Most professional translators are individuals working into their native language and in one language combination (i. e. English to Spanish).
They may have subject matter expertise in some industries but often limited or non-existent capacity for any necessary additional services like DTP, Database Management, Website Localization etc.
The American Translator Association (ATA) lists about 9000 such independent contractors, approximately 100 different language combinations and more than 120 different subjects.
If you want to manage a translation project yourself it's not difficult to find a translator who's willing to do the job for a lower price than you'd pay us - although your search may be tedious and time consuming.
What you'd get, at best, is a translation provided by an unknown, single source who claims to have the subject matter expertise and the native fluency to perform a professional translation.
